Thank you for nominating qualified candidates to be considered by the Search Committee.
Dear Texas Baptists,
The Executive Director Search Committee is grateful for your prayerful support during this season of selection for our convention. We are all thankful that God in His abundance continues to bless this committee as we continue to work together for a common purpose.
As we move forward in the process of calling the next Executive Director, nominations, submission of applications and resumes for the Executive Director position closed on May 7, 2023. The Executive Director Search Committee is now reviewing and processing submissions.
We continue to ask for your prayers for the candidates and the committee as we seek the Lord's guidance and direction. The Executive Director Search Committee will be sending periodic progress updates as we move further into our work.
Thank you, Texas Baptists, for your continued prayers and support.
In Christ,
Executive Director Search Committee
Dear Texas Baptists,
In order to give ample opportunity for the Texas Baptists family to have input into the Executive Director search process, the Executive Director Search Committee has decided to reopen the nomination window as we seek our next Executive Director.
Thank you in advance for your continued prayer and patience as we move forward in the search process.
If you desire to nominate a candidate for the position of Executive Director, please submit your nomination through the online form by clicking the “Nominate” button on this webpage.
If you desire to apply for the position of Executive Director, you may nominate yourself through the same process.
If you previously submitted a nomination, please know that the search committee has contacted all nominees who were previously submitted, so there is no need to re-submit a nomination at this time.
New nominations must be submitted via the online form by Sunday, May 7, 2023.
During this new window for submissions, we will not pause our work but will continue to pray and process those who have previously been nominated.
Thank you again for your prayers, patience and support as we move closer to identifying, confirming and celebrating our next Executive Director.
In Christ,
Executive Director Search Committee
Hello Texas Baptists,
We are writing to share a brief but significant update from the BGCT Executive Director Search Committee.
Dr. David Mahfouz has stepped down from his position as chair of the committee. We are grateful to Dr. Mahfouz for his leadership throughout this complex and vital process. David was instrumental in creating the search prospectus, updated job description and listening sessions that allowed Texas Baptists churches to speak into the selection process.
Moving forward, the BGCT executive board will appoint a new committee chair, and the work of the committee will continue.
We encourage the Texas Baptists family to continue praying for every aspect of this process - the committee members, their careful deliberation and the person God is calling to lead the BGCT into the future.
God bless,
The Members of the Executive Director Search Committee
The Executive Director Search Committee met December 12th-13th, 2022 and is happy to report that it has made considerable progress.
The Personnel Committee of the BGCT Executive Board has approved the updated Job Description for the role of the Executive Director.
The Job Prospectus for the Executive Director position is undergoing the final editing process. The prospectus will:
Announce the opportunity for employment with the BGCT in the role of Executive Director, notifying potential candidates of the position vacancy
Present a historical overview of the BGCT
Provide a 5-year statistical portrait of BGCT’s operations and ministries
Specify the qualities and experience a successful candidate should, if not all, mostly possess
Invite nominations for the position and describe the process the committee will follow in its work to identify and recommend a candidate to the Executive Board of the BGCT
The Job Prospectus and Description will be available on the Texas Baptists website the week of January 10, 2023. Nominations for the role must be received by January 31, 2023.
A confidential review of nominations will begin in February of 2023.
The Search Committee continues to pray and seek the leadership of the Lord.
The committee encourages Texas Baptists to continue praying for the committee and its work.
Thank you,
David Mahfouz, Chair, Executive Director Search Committee
The BGCT Executive Director Search Committee held its first meeting on Sunday evening, August 28th to get acquainted and discuss the assignment we have been given by the Executive Board of the BGCT.
We are in a season of prayer this fall and have scheduled our first in-person meeting in October of this year.
We plan to host listening sessions in November to gather information from Texas Baptists that will assist the committee to develop a position profile.
We plan to release the position profile for the next Executive Director and to then start receiving resumes in January of 2023.
We will then enter into a time of evaluating resumes and interviewing potential candidates who fit the job profile.
We are asking all Texas Baptists to enter into this season of prayer for the ED Search process.
Thank you,
David Mahfouz, Chair, Executive Director Search Committee
“It has been a true delight to experience the Spirit-led cohesion among every search committee member. Each shares the common goal of following the Lord’s leadership.”
