CLC Advocacy Day

CLC Advocacy Day will be held Thursday, March 5, at First United Methodist Church, Family Life Center, 302 W. 13th St., Austin, TX 78701.

The CLC Advocacy Day is an opportunity for you to participate in the work of the CLC. Your voice is vital to our success so please join Kathryn Freeman and Dr. Gus Reyes for their first CLC Advocacy Day in Austin!

Schedule for the Day

  • 9:30-11 a.m. Legislative Briefing
    The Legislative briefing is an opportunity to hear from experts on some of the top legislative issues facing our state including predatory lending, immigration, and public education.

  • 11:15 a.m.- 1 p.m. Legislative Luncheon
    The Legislative Luncheon will feature a presentation by CLC Director of Public Policy, Kathryn Freeman on the CLC's public policy priorities. Members of the Legislature have been invited to the luncheon so this will be a great opportunity to interact with elected officials.

  • 1-2:30 p.m. Capitol Visits
    Participants will then have the opportunity to visit their elected officials in their Capitol offices and discuss the CLC legislative priorities most effecting their churches and communities.

  • 2:45-3:30 p.m. CLC Commissioners and Board of Consultants Meeting (For Commissioners and BOC only)
    If you are not a member of the Board of Commissioners or Consultants we will arrange for a tour of the Capitol.

  • 3:45-5:30 p.m. Let Justice Roll Down: African American Perspectives on Justice
    After Ferguson and the tragic events in New York, conversations around race and racial reconciliation are taking place all across the nation. Join us as we discuss the role of the church in justice in a conversation with several African American pastors moderated by Director of Ethics and Justice, Ferrell Foster.
