Hardworking Wednesday

by Kasey Chinn on July 20, 2016 in BOUNCE

BOUNCERS’ work continued today on their sites. The students were hard at work despite the intense heat, which was up to 97 degrees today. We continued encouraging everyone to use sunscreen and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. The work accomplished so far includes scraping old paint, applying new paint, and repairing roofs.

One homeowner has lived in the same house for 61 years. She said she has been praying for years for help repairing this home. She and her family were physically and financially unable to do the work themselves and are so grateful for the BOUNCERS who have come to serve her. The students have told stories about the homeowners and even neighbors nearby who expressed thanks by spending time with the students and bringing snacks for them to continue working.

This evening we had a unique worship service called Concert of Prayer. The students received prayer journals so they could interact with God on a personal level and examine the Lord’s Prayer as a group. Without a musician or speaker onstage, the guided prayer experience allows students to spend some time alone with God and encounter their heavenly Father.

Texas Baptists is a movement of God’s people to share Christ and show love by strengthening churches and ministers, engaging culture and connecting the nations to Jesus.

The ministry of the convention is made possible by giving through the Texas Baptists Cooperative Program, Mary Hill Davis Offering® for Texas Missions, Texas Baptists Worldwide and Texas Baptist Missions Foundation. Thank you for your faithful and generous support.
