Levi Price named Outstanding Interim Pastor for 2018

Dr. Levi W. Price received the 2018 MWD Award (Maples, Williamson, Daehnert Award) as the outstanding interim pastor of the year for the Texas Baptists Interim Ministry Network. The award was presented during the Fall Update continuing education training for Interim Ministry held at Dallas Baptist University on Oct. 4. 

“Dr. Levi Price models excellence in pastoral care, preaching and leadership that helps interim churches resolve their issues and prepare for the calling of a new pastor,” said Karl Fickling, coordinator of Interim Church Services. “Serving over 20 interim churches, he has proven again and again that the interim period can be a critical moment for preparing a church for the future.”

Previously, Dr. Price served as pastor of First Baptist Church of El Paso for 17 years after pastoring several churches in California. He was the first professor of pastoral care at George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University and has also served as an adjunct professor for Wayland Baptist University, Hardin-Simmons University and Howard Payne University.

As an advocate for the BGCT interim ministry and training, he has taught and mentored within the network, as well. He is a also a certified Intentional Interim Ministry pastor. Dr. Price holds a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and a master’s and doctorate from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in California.

Texas Baptists’ Interim Ministry Network seeks to assist churches looking for a pastor and to equip interim pastors to serve those churches. Currently, there are nearly 100 interim pastors, serving as traditional interim pastors or as Intentional Interim Ministry specialists. The Interim Church Services office also provides supply preacher referrals, consultations, pastor search committee training and more.
