Loving Eagle Pass is well underway

by Gerald Davis on June 26, 2014 in News

On Sunday, June 22, 75 pairs of hands and feet descended upon Eagle Pass, Texas to tackle 16 projects representing families recovering from the June 2013 flooding.

Eager and willing volunteers from Lawn Baptist Church (Abilene), First Baptist Church Pasadena and Oak Ridge Baptist Church - Grace House Ministry (Corpus Christi) responded to the call and are here. Outstanding work is being done in repairing roofs, hanging sheet-rock, painting, mud/muck-out, Vacation Bible School, and more as they are being the presence of Christ across Eagle Pass. Texas Baptist Disaster Recovery is partnering with Iglesia Bautista Peniel Church, Felipe Garcia, Pastor and the Mission of Border of Hope who is managing the recovery response to the flooding that damaged hundred of homes in Eagle Pass and across the border in Piedras Negras over a year ago.

As recent as last Friday another torrential rain fall brought flooding to the recovering area causing additional damage. Texas Baptist Men has been called-out to the area and fortunately the Oak Ridge Church's mud/muck-out trailer and team was already in Eagle Pass for the Loving Eagle Pass week. Three homes have been identified to be mud/mucked-out. The TBM team is delighted to be right where God needed them.
