Response to Baylor Resolution: A word from David Hardage

by Texas Baptists Communications on May 21, 2021 in Statements

We are aware of the resolution recently passed by the Baylor University Board of Regents. Since its passing, we have been in talks with university leadership to better understand the situation and share reactions from our Texas Baptists family.

We have every confidence in our convention leaders and board directors to carefully review and respond to this action. Of course, the convention's position on human sexuality and biblical marriage has not and will not change.

We support Baylor’s reaffirmation of their commitment to biblical sexuality, and the university’s desire to care well for its students in spiritually healthy and biblically faithful ways. Our desire is for all to know the love of Christ, and to find fulfillment that comes only from a right relationship with and obedience to Him.

We are praying for the university’s administration as it seeks to pursue the best path forward, and we extend our assistance to that end. The churches, institutions and ministry staff of Texas Baptists remain committed to sharing Christ and showing love, and we will continue to work together to carry out that mission.

David Hardage, Executive Director
Texas Baptists (Baptist General Convention of Texas)
