Texas Baptists welcome Eric Hernandez to the Great Commission Team

DALLAS–Eric Hernandez recently joined Texas Baptists Great Commission Team as the new Apologetics Lead & Millennial Specialist.

“Eric is a brilliant and talented young man that has been making waves in the apologetics community for several years,” said Texas Baptists Evangelism Lead Leighton Flowers. “He is a tremendous addition to the Texas Baptist family and I cannot wait for more of our churches to hear his vision for evangelism.”

In his new position, Hernandez will strategically connect with churches, students and those who are willing to effectively engage through apologetics. This will include, but is not limited to, planning conferences and weekend seminars, training for small groups, helping churches to start apologetic Bible studies and raising leaders in their churches to effective evangelism.

Hernandez holds an associate’s degree from San Jacinto College, a bachelor’s degree from Next Level Institute and is currently enrolled in a joint master’s and doctorate program at Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary. He is also a licensed minister, a certified formation therapist and has a certificate of apologetics from Biola University.

He is a former instructor of Magdiel Bible Institute and has spoken and debated on a public level at university and college campuses where he defended the Christian faith against atheist, agnostic and deistic professors of different worldviews. He also began Eric Hernandez Ministries which encompasses speaking engagements, apologetic seminars and weekend training courses held across the nation and world.

In light of Matthew 5:13, Hernandez said, “I have engaged our culture in countless ways through apologetics such as formal public debates on college campuses with atheist professors, being interviewed on secular radio shows, and most importantly, equipping the body of Christ to effectively engage the culture.”

He continued, “Hence, my passion is to not only reach the unreachable (i.e. atheist, agnostics, deists etc.), but more pertinently, to teach train those who want to fulfill the Great Commission, which quite literally is the biblical mandate for every believer.”
