Katie Frugé has joined the Texas Baptists Christian Life Commission (CLC) team as the Hunger and Care Ministries Specialist.

"We are excited to welcome Dr. Frugé to the Christian Life Commission staff. She brings to this role both theological depth and a heart for helping those in need,” Ferrell Foster, director of ethics and justice for the CLC, said. “She will help our churches to better exemplify the love of neighbor that Jesus said is at the core of godly living."

In her new role, Frugé will oversee the Texas Baptist Hunger Offering, a ministry seeking to break the cycle of poverty and hunger and promote holistic transformation in the name of Jesus. She will spread awareness about the Hunger Offering and encourage churches to give, while working to ensure transparency so that donors know where their funds are directed.

“As the Hunger and Care Specialist, I want people to see they gave this money, and here’s [exactly] where it goes,” she explained. “And it’s a trustworthy source.”

Frugé will also work closely with the ministry recipients of the offering.

Frugé received her Bachelor of Arts from Union University, and she obtained her Master of Divinity and PhD in Systematic Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Her doctorate focused on the image of God, which she believes is foundational for a holistic understanding of advocacy and human dignity and worth.

Frugé also has experience in advocacy, advocating for special needs children in the Fort Worth ISD. Frugé, who has lived in Fort Worth for 12 years, was a part of the Inaugural Fort Worth Special Education Parent Teacher Association. She is excited to take her passion for advocacy and human dignity and apply it to the CLC.

“The CLC gets to be where the conviction meets the ground,” Frugé said. “Participating in the hunger offering is our chance to be the hands and feet of God.”

Texas Baptists is a movement of God’s people to share Christ and show love by strengthening churches and ministers, engaging culture and connecting the nations to Jesus.

The ministry of the convention is made possible by giving through the Texas Baptists Cooperative Program, Mary Hill Davis Offering® for Texas Missions, Texas Baptists Worldwide and Texas Baptist Missions Foundation. Thank you for your faithful and generous support.
