Upcoming Conclave conference seeks to promote collaboration between family ministries in churches

Conclave, a one-stop conference for various family ministries hosted by Texas Baptists Great Commission Team, will take place Oct. 14-16 at First Baptist Richardson.

The conference is designed to provide encouragement, worship experiences, networking, training and resources for youth ministers, as well as those who oversee the family or NextGen ministries in local churches.

Over three days, attendees will hear from nationally known speakers Reggie Joiner, CEO of Orange; Mark Matlock, president of WisdomWorks Ministries; and David Kinnaman, president of Barna Group. Worship will be provided by Jimmy McNeal, worship leader at Austin Stone Community Church.

For Jane Wilson, Youth Discipleship specialist at Texas Baptists, it was important to have well-known speakers with strong credentials to allow attendees to hear from among the very best in the field of family ministry.

In addition to these speakers, breakout sessions will be held for participants about more in-depth youth, family and NextGen ministry. The workshops will allow individuals to tailor their conference time to what best suits their ministries or churches.

In between general sessions and breakout sessions, booths of relevant missions organizations, ministries, retreat centers and other resources will be available for ministers.

Wilson encouraged churches to bring as many staff members as possible to Conclave. She explained that the conference is centered around teaching ministers how to work collaboratively within their church to reach the entire family unit.

“Conclave is for all ministers of the church who want to work collaboratively to reach families,” Wilson said. “This is for the children’s minister who wants to work alongside the youth minister and the preschool minister and the pastor to reach families. That’s the difference in this event, it’s all about collaborative ministry among staff members, in addition to the youth ministry training for which Conclave has been known over the years.”

Conclave will take place Oct. 14-16 at First Baptist Richardson,1001 N. Central Expressway, Richardson, TX.
