Legacy Awards

On Sunday, June 1, Texas Baptists will present the 2025 Legacy Award, celebrating the heritage of Texas Baptists, to Gary Cook, higher education leader, and Charles R. Wade, a longtime pastor and leader in Texas Baptist life.

Lee Baggett, missionary and founder of Manos Hermanas, and Charles H. Whiteside, a committed educator and servant leader across numerous Texas Baptists ministries, were recipients of the 2024 Texas Baptists Legacy Award.

"Lots of things are calling for your attention, but no one and nothing deserves it greater than the Lord our God.” 

Deep in the heart of Texas at historic Independence Baptist Church, friends, family and former co-workers of Jim Culp and Bernie Spooner gathered to honor the veteran denominational leaders at the annual Texas Baptist Legacy Awards presentation on June 7.
