In August, a team of four University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB) students and one staff sponsor went on a two-week mission trip to northern Africa. This trip was the first UMHB-sponsored trip to the region and the first trip organized by the university’s new Director of Global Outreach, Tiffany Horton.
Team sponsor Mary Catherine Carnes, resident director of UMHB’s Burt Hall, had previously lived a short while in the region and had connections to some missionaries serving long-term there. While they were in northern Africa, Carnes and the four female students ministered to local women. Each student had the opportunity to share the Gospel with a couple of women during their trip.
“We would have a lesson on baking bread or traditional dishes that they would make, and, in the process, we would get to know these women and turn the conversation to Gospel things,” Carnes explained.
Carnes said that the students responded well to the trip and were clearly impacted by it.
“All of them said that their eyes are opened and that God just showed them more of who He is and that they can live a life of ministry and mission wherever they are,” Carnes said.
When our church gives through the Cooperative Program, we support UMHB and the global outreach their students experience. Let’s pray for the students and faculty of UMHB as they go out among the nations.

En agosto, un equipo de cuatro estudiantes de la Universidad Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB, por sus siglas en inglés) y un miembro del personal patrocinador hicieron un viaje misionero al norte de África. Este viaje fue el primer viaje auspiciado de la UMHB a la región y el primero organizado por la nueva Directora de Evangelismo Global, Tiffany Horton.
La patrocinadora del equipo, Mary Catherine Carnes, directora residente de la residencia Burt de la UMHB, había vivido un corto tiempo en la región y tenía conexiones con algunos misioneros que han servido un largo tiempo ahí. Durante su estadía en el norte de África,Carnes y las cuatro estudiantes ministraron a mujeres de la comunidad. Cada estudiante tuvo la oportunidad de compartir el evangelio con un par de mujeres durante el viaje.
“Mientras tomábamos una clase para aprender a preparar repostería o platillos tradicionales, tuvimos la oportunidad de conocer a estas mujeres y compartirles el evangelio”, explicó Carnes. Carnes dijo que las estudiantes respondieron bien a esta experiencia, la cual claramente las Impactó.
“Todas dijeron que Dios abrió sus ojos y les mostró más de quién es Él, y que pueden vivir una vida de ministerio y misiones en dondequiera que estén”, dijo Carnes. Cuando nuestras iglesias hacen donaciones al Programa Cooperativo, apoyan a la UMHB y al programa estudiantil de evangelismo global. Oremos por los estudiantes y el profesorado de la UMHB que llevan el evangelio a otras naciones.
