Leadership Texas Baptists

All participants are responsible for their own travel to the in-person gatherings. For Annual Meeting in Waco, a one night hotel stay will be provided for all participants. For the other in-person gatherings, a one night hotel stay will be available for all participants traveling outside the DFW area.

Leadership Texas Baptists is a cohort experience designed to develop and connect emerging leaders across Texas Baptists life. Through in-person learning, ministry exposure, and relationship-building, participants grow in leadership skills, missional awareness, and personal calling.

The program is for emerging leaders—both pastors/staff and lay leaders—who serve in Texas Baptists–affiliated churches or ministries. Ideal participants show a desire to grow, influence others, and engage in the mission of Texas Baptists more deeply.

Participants journey together as a cohort, meeting for 9 one-day seminars between January and November. No seminars are scheduled for June or July. Five of these gatherings will be in person. Four of them will occur virtually over Zoom. Each seminar includes leadership development, ministry learning experiences, and intentional networking. Light assignments and reflection help reinforce growth between sessions.

Outside of the Annual Meeting gathering in Waco for our final session in November, all other in-person gatherings (February, April, August & September) will meet in the Dallas/Fort Worth area either at the Texas Baptists location in Dallas or another TXB affinity location (Buckner, WMU of Texas, Texans on Mission, etc.) 

Potential cohort members complete an online application to verify their eligibility and desire to join Leadership Texas Baptists. Each applicant must also submit an updated resume as well as two references. One of those references needs to be the pastor. If the applicant is the pastor, one of the references needs to be a mentor pastor. Final decisions will be made following the application deadline on December 8. New cohort members will be notified mid-December.

If you’re selected for Leadership Texas Baptists, we’ll send you a link to complete your registration with the $450 fee. No payment is needed until after you’ve been notified of your acceptance. We just ask that you take care of the registration fee before our first Zoom meeting on January 8.
