Formerly called a River Ministry Coordinator, a River Ministry Missionary coordinates local mission work in their area by serving as a liaison between a mission church and local mission and ministry. Our local churches on both sides of the Texas / Mexico border are an essential part of River Ministry. When you serve with River Ministry, you are serving with the local church on he border. In June we have had 207 mission group volunteers serve, but we have also had 259 local church volunteers serve! As these numbers grow, so have other numbers in June:

Pedro Munoz, River Ministry Missionary in Reynosa, Mexico said, "A River Ministry Missionary is God’s provision to fulfill human beings needs; a wide variety of needs that is." He also added 1 Peter 4:10, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” Our missionaries use medical skills, computer skills, compassionate words, biblical knowledge, and other gifts and abilities from the Lord to meet people where they are and tell them more about the Lord. They also help churches come to the border and use their abilities to serve. They meet ministries, churches, and those in need where they are to answer the need: for missions groups, for a place to serve, or for physical or spiritual needs. Summer is one of the heaviest times of the year for our missionaries, but also one of the greatest since they have people serving and more people being told about Jesus!

One program that grew last year and continues this year are feeding programs. During the pandemic many people lost their jobs and could not buy food. Our missionaries were able to deliver "Care Box Kits" to hard hit communities on both sides of the border that had basic pantry supplies, cleaning supplies, and hygiene items. While these are not as needed on the Texas side of the border, they are still being used on the Mexico side where the economy has not picked up as well. We also have a couple of feeding centers taking place on the Mexico side, one of which is headed up by Pedro Munoz and local churches in Reynosa.
