The Covid-19 pandemic is no doubt increasing stress levels for most everyone in the United States. Even if you have not been infected with the virus or do not know anyone that has been directly impacted, you are certainly feeling the effects of social distancing, change in everyday work and school routines, business closures, limited resources and the list goes on.
An increase in stress, particularly prolonged stress, can actually lower your immunity which could make you more vulnerable to any health issue, including Covid-19. Stress can also lead to anxiety or depression, if not addressed from the mental or emotional aspect in addition to the physical aspect.
If you notice that you or someone you love are experiencing stress exhibited by increased levels of fear or worry, sadness or isolation, changes in sleeping or eating patterns, or decreased concentration, then take time to intentionally address the stress! The CDC has a fantastic webpage devoted to managing anxiety and stress.
They also have tips for emotional health, helping children cope with emergencies, ways parents can support their child or teen dealing with anxiety and stress, and tips for first responders.

Most importantly, rely on your faith and God’s word to ease anxieties and calm fears. Prayer and meditation on scripture are powerful pieces of armor to shield us from the stress and anxieties of this world.
