Texas Baptists welcomed David Ritsema as the new publisher for GC2 Press. Ritsema will serve in his new role alongside his role as assistant dean of B. H. Carroll Theological Seminary and as assistant professor of New Testament at East Texas Baptist University (ETBU). He assumed the position on Nov. 10.
Ritsema said he’s “delighted to step into this complementary publishing role” because “it fits seamlessly alongside my seminary work and gives me another avenue to invest in ministry preparation and collaboration.”
"GC2 Press has been woven into my ministry for a long time, from the studies I taught as a pastor to the fifteen books I later contributed to for churches across Texas. I’ve seen firsthand how these resources equip people for ministry,” said Ritsema.
In addition to serving in his roles at ETBU, Ritsema has over 25 years in pastoral ministry, notably pastoring First Baptist Church Waxahachie for 13 years and Woodlawn Baptist Church in Austin for five years.
Ritsema earned a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry from ETBU, a Master of Divinity from George W. Truett Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. in New Testament from B. H. Carroll Theological Seminary.
Joshua Minatrea, senior director of Resource Development at Texas Baptists, said he is “overjoyed to welcome Dr. Ritsema to the newly formed Resource Development Team” as he “knows well the history and aim of the Bible study resources produced under the GC2 Press imprint.”
“[Ritsema’s] experience, expertise and calling make him an ideal fit for where we are today, and where we sense God calling us in the days ahead,” said Minatrea. “He will honor this historic mission while exploring new and innovative opportunities to meet the emerging needs of Texas Baptists churches as they seek to live out the Great Commandment and the Great Commission in Texas and beyond.”
GC2 Press provides user-friendly Bible studies that are practical, helpful and immediately useful to teachers and students.
