Preschool and Children’s Ministers’ Retreat

Mary Ann Bradberry

Mary Ann Bradberry brings many years of experience in Christian education for children to each of her sessions. After eight years as the executive director of Texas Baptist Church Weekday Education Association, Mary Ann retired to spend more time exploring the world through the eyes of her granddaughter. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a graduate degree in Early Childhood Education from North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. For 12 years, Mary Ann was editor-in-chief in the Childhood Publishing Department at LifeWay Christian Resources, where she edited preschool Sunday School curriculum, ParentLife magazine and Vacation Bible School resources. Before going to LifeWay, Mary Ann served as a preschool and children’s minister at churches in Texas and Oklahoma. She has also been an adjunct professor at Dallas Baptist University. Mary Ann lives in Austin, Texas, where she is involved in the children’s ministry at Canyon Church.

Phil Miller

Phil Miller is a native Texan, born in Palestine, TX. He and his wife, Kay, live in Kaufman, Kay’s hometown, and are members of First Baptist Church. Phil and Kay have two grown children – Jay Miller, children’s minister at First Baptist Church in Bryan, Texas, and Jana White, a freelance graphic designer who lives in Norfolk, Virginia. Jay & Nicole are proud parents of Corbin & Levi. Jana & Robert are proud parents of Jack & Bennett. Together, this Fearsome Foursome of Grandsons is the greatest blessing imaginable for Phil & Kay.

Prior to joining the convention staff, Phil served on church staff in Texas for 23 years in three churches in combinations of youth, music, college and education/administration roles. He joined the Baptist General Convention of Texas staff in December, 1996. 

Phil serves as director of the Center for Church Health, where he guides the work of Texas Baptists in the areas of Discipleship/NextGen, Evangelism, Church Health and Growth, Music & Worship and Church Architecture.

We believe that one moment in the presence of Jesus can change someone forever. We lead worship for retreats, conferences and events to help individuals develop a growing relationship with Jesus.
