The Singing Women of Texas was founded in 1994 as a one-time concert for the annual gathering of the Baptist Church Music Conference. There are now eight chapters throughout the state sponsored by the Baptist General Convention of Texas. In the Summer of 2019 The Singing Women of Texas commemorated their 25th anniversary by combining in Belton on the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor campus to record their latest CD which is available by digital download. Singing Women of Texas chapters are comprised of church staff members, church choir members, as well as music educators in schools and universities. Each chapter meets together once a month for an afternoon of rehearsal and an evening concert at a local church or other ministry venue. Often, two or more chapters come together for a music mission trip or a special concert event. As a combined choir, the Singing Women of Texas have been featured at the Texas Baptists Annual Meeting, Baptist Church Music Conference, as well as the Alleluia! Church Music Conference. They have crossed the Texas borders to sing and share the Gospel throughout the U S including New England, the southeastern states, and most recently our Nation’s capital.
The consistent mission of these dedicated ladies remains to glorify God and to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ through music; to provide opportunities for Christian growth, inspiration, fellowship and mission service; and to encourage musical excellence within the local church.
