Carlos Francis, director of Affinity Relations/GC2 support, at the 2026 African American Leadership Conference.
The Texas Baptists Relational Development/GC2 team welcomed Carlos Francis as the new director of Affinity Relations/GC2 support. Francis transitioned from his prior position as director of African American Ministries in the Center for Cultural Engagement on Feb. 1.
Francis said he is excited to help affinity groups “feel seen, supported and strategically aligned, so that together, we can advance the gospel more effectively.”
“I look forward to equipping leaders, building bridges across cultures and contexts and creating pathways for collaboration that lead to transformation in churches and communities. The chance to serve in a way that strengthens unity while expanding mission truly energizes me,” said Francis.
Prior to his time at Texas Baptists, Francis served as the youth and young adult pastor at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Mansfield from 2008 to 2021.
Francis previously served on the Evangelism team as an African American specialist and as the director of Young Adult ministry. Most recently, he served as the director of African American Ministries prior to his role as director of Affinity Relations/GC2 support.
Francis earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Sports Science from Texas Tech University and a Master of Arts in Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
In a release announcing the realignment of the Center for Cultural Engagement, Sergio Ramos, senior director of Relational Development/GC2 Initiative, said, “our affinity ministries represent nearly 48% of our churches and play a tremendous role in advancing the GC2 initiative.”
“[Our affinity ministries’] impact is essential to who we are and where we are going. I am excited to see Carlos Francis lead this important area and look forward to working alongside him and each of our affinity group leaders as we move together toward the fulfillment of the GC2 vision,” said Ramos.
