John Fletcher, Interim Area 9 Representative
The Texas Baptists Center for Ministerial Health welcomed John Fletcher, pastor of Victory Baptist Church in Haltom City, and David Harp, retired pastor of First Baptist Church in Stanton, as the part-time interim area 9 representatives. They assumed their positions on Dec. 1.
Fletcher said “several area representatives have poured into me over the years,” and he looks forward to doing the same for other pastors.
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to be a pastor to pastors and other ministerial staff, especially those who serve in smaller congregations and bi-vocational/co-vocational positions, having been in those positions myself,” said Fletcher.
Prior to his time at Texas Baptists, Fletcher gained 32 years of ministry experience, serving in “numerous ministerial positions in Texas and Arkansas,” and served on the Super Summer administrative staff for over 20 years.
Harp, joining Fletcher as a part-time interim representative for Area 9, said he looks forward to “serving the churches in this new capacity.”
David Harp, Interim Area 9 Representative
Prior to his time at Texas Baptists, Harp gained 46 years of ministry experience with over 30 years spent pastoring FBC Stanton. In addition to pastoral ministry, Harp served for 15 years in chaplaincy and substance abuse recovery ministry.
“I look forward to encouraging our pastors and leaders in the region. It is a privilege to continue serving the Lord through Texas Baptists,” said Harp.
Tim Watson, director of area representatives and associational relations at Texas Baptists, said he is excited to welcome “two experienced pastors” to the team who will “add value to the 700 churches, 17 counties and 11 Baptist associations that comprise Area 9.”
“These gentlemen exemplify Christ-like servant leadership, and their relational network built through years of laboring in the local church is a win for our Texas Baptists congregations,” said Watson.
