On Wednesday, April 29, Texans on Mission sent a chainsaw team and box team to Mineral Wells following a tornado on Tuesday, April 28. The team has begun working through incoming requests and will remain in the area through tomorrow, Tuesday, May 5.
Texans on Mission sent a feeding team and a box team to respond to Runaway Bay after an EF-2 tornado ripped through the town on Saturday, April 25. The feeding team served 70 meals to families in the area.
Texans on Mission (TXM), the disaster relief ministry of Texas Baptists, has deployed teams to Runaway Bay, Springtown and Mineral Wells to respond with various disaster relief efforts to those affected by recent tornadoes.
On Sunday, April 26, a feeding team and a box team responded to Runaway Bay after an EF-2 tornado ripped through the town the night before. The feeding team served 70 meals to families in the area. The box team was deployed to the area on Sunday and stayed several days after, giving out nearly 2,000 boxes for residents to package their items for safe keeping.
Chainsaw teams were deployed to both Springtown and Mineral Wells following the storms. Shower/Laundry units have also been sent to both areas and have been set up at Red Cross shelter sites.
The Springtown chainsaw team has already responded to and completed seven work requests and are receiving more. TXM Director of Communications Aimee Freston, said this week, TXM will deploy two more chainsaw teams to Springtown due to the amount of recovery work in the area.

TXM also sent several hundred First Step hygiene kits to the area to be distributed as needed.
The Mineral Wells chainsaw team has begun working through incoming requests and will remain in the area through tomorrow, Tuesday, May 5. A box team has also responded to the area, handing out boxes to people who need to pack up their belongings for safe keeping.
Over the weekend, TXM sent an additional heavy machinery team to Mineral Wells to help with the clean up.
TXM Director of Communications Aimee Freston said the teams have gotten many opportunities to share Jesus with survivors and have even been able to get some connected to local churches.
“God is providing divine appointment opportunities, and we love seeing how He is working through our volunteers for the Kingdom,” said Freston.
She said assessors continue to work in all locations, evaluating needs, gathering job requests and preparing for the possibility of more storms this coming weekend.
