DALLAS – July 16, 2026 [4:52 PM] – Torrential rainfall in South Texas and the Hill Country has caused widespread flooding, which began Wednesday July 15, and continued on Thursday, July 16.
Texas Baptists staff have been in touch with churches in the impacted areas and will continue to monitor needs as they arise. Texans on Mission, the disaster recovery arm of Texas Baptists, has put all of its volunteer disaster response teams on standby to serve, including flood recovery, assessors, chaplains, shower/laundry, feeding, asset protection, box ministry, electrical, electronic support and an incident management team.
“We’re in constant communication with emergency managers in the impacted areas. We’re eyeing a multi-location response. As soon as the water recedes, our teams are ready to go in,” said John Hall, chief mission officer at Texans on Mission. “We will likely shift that team to another area as the water recedes to meet needs after this current flooding.”
This article will be updated with further information as it is received. Please join us in praying for those in the Hill Country and South Texas affected by the flooding, and the volunteers on standby to meet needs.
