Small Towns Matter
The Big Ministry Small Town Summit is designed to engage, encourage and equip leaders who serve small towns and communities. The goal of the Big Ministry Small Town Summit is to see smaller towns of Texas filled with Great Commandment, Great Commission churches and Christian workers for the glory of God.
This Summit is designed to encourage, equip and engage pastors, laypeople and churches in small towns. These regional Summits bring together pastors, ministry leaders and laity to learn, pray and strategize together for the advancement of the gospel. Ample time will be provided for discussion, meals, fellowship and prayer.
These plenary sessions are designed to encourage the attendees as well as allow them to engage in mindful discussion and pray with one another.
Session One – Seeing the Community Through Jesus’ Eyes – Ira Antoine, Texas Baptists
In this interactive session, we'll explore how shifting our perspective to see our neighborhoods and communities as Jesus sees them can revolutionize our approach to ministry and outreach. Through Scripture reflection, we'll discover how Christ's compassionate gaze reveals both the deep needs around us and the unique opportunities we have to share His love.
Session Two – Unity of the Body in a Divided World – Panelists: Pastors Kyle Bishop, Matt Burton, and Fritz Williams
This session explores the importance of church unity, examining its biblical basis and practical implementation. The facilitators will share how churches, as part of the Body of Christ, can collaborate and strengthen their message. The session offers actionable strategies for fostering unity among leaders and members, emphasizing the transformative impact of unified churches in demonstrating Jesus' love and enhancing their community impact.
These breakout sessions are designed to equip attendees as well as allow them to engage in focused dialogue around the topic. They will run concurrently.
Sharing the Gospel & Defending Your Faith in the New Normal (Post-Pandemic) – Victor Rodriguez, Texas Baptists
Things are not the same after a global pandemic. This includes small towns and communities. But one thing has not changed, the need to share the gospel. In this session, the facilitator will challenge you to be intentional about sharing the gospel, defend your faith and offer practical ways to do so in a post-pandemic world.
All Gens Matter: Ministering to all Generations – Pastor Albert Walker, Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Mathis, TX
We are living in a time when multiple generations attend the same church. Builders, Boomers, Busters and Gen X, Y, Z all attend the church. They all matter to God, so they should all matter to us. All Gens Matter! In this session, the facilitator will give us a biblical foundation with practical application on how to minister to every generation God sends to our church.
Helping Those in Need – Charny Beck, Jim Graham, Lawsona Gandy and Maurisa Tillman, STCH Ministries
Four friends carried a paralyzed friend to Jesus so that He could heal the friend. A desperate father brought his demon-possessed son to Jesus for healing. There are people in our congregation and community who need help beyond our ability, but they need someone who cares for and loves them enough to help them get the help they need. In the session, the facilitator will offer ways to help others who need professional or specialized assistance to heal their hurts.
Creating a Culture of Discipleship – Pastor Darrin Moore, Truevine Baptist Church, Spring, TX
Discipleship is not a class or program, but an ongoing process. Every believer is called to be a disciple of Christ who grows in maturity of the faith. The church is challenged to create an environment where new believers in Christ grow in wisdom and knowledge of God. They become workers and leaders in the church. During this session, the facilitator will offer practical ways followers of Christ are to grow spiritually and discern God’s call on their lives. They will be challenged to engage in outreach to the community and in-reach to one another.
This summit is made possible through the generous gifts to the Mary Hill Davis Offering for Texas Missions.
