Why does mental health matter?

Imagine if you and I carried around a big bag of rocks wherever we went. We took it to work, took it to church, we even slept with it wrapped around our backs. Our bags were filled with rocks of all different shapes and sizes but they had one thing in common: They weighed us down.

Our spiritual, emotional and mental burdens are like a big bag of rocks. We carry them everywhere we go, and they weigh us down.

Your bag of rocks may include anxiety, depression or fear of the future. Maybe you carry the burden of something painful or traumatic in your past. Perhaps your rocks are relational conflict or physical illness. Whatever they are and however long you’ve carried them, they’re weighing you down.

But God has more for us than lugging around those heavy burdens. Jesus said he came to give us life and life to the full (John 10:10).

Women are struggling with their mental and emotional health at record levels. And so often, they don’t have the tools and the truth they need to live as the overcomers God destined them to be.
