Texas Baptist Men (TBM) is currently responding to needs in North Texas following serious storms and tornados on Sun., Oct. 20. A tornado touched down in North Dallas, causing damage for several miles across the city. TBM activated a chainsaw crew of 11 people on Monday morning to the Lake Highlands area for disaster relief.

Dr. Charles "Rusty" Walton received the Maples-Williamson-Daehnert (MWD) Award on Oct. 10, 2019, for being the outstanding interim pastor of the year.

Washington Post columnist and former George W. Bush speechwriter Michael Gerson delivered the keynote address at the Texas Baptist Christian Life Commission’s Advocacy Day March 26 at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Austin.

The mission work of Texas Baptists pre-dates the existence of an organized state convention and emcompasses a strong desire to share the Gospel to the utmost regions. When the first Baptist convention formed in Texas in 1848, two endeavors were at the heart of their work—missions and education.

Back in 1848, at the first Baptist state convention in Texas, a handful of words were used to describe the primary purpose of the group gathered. Later on, in 1886, those same words were incorporated into the Baptist General Convention of Texas constitution at its formation.

“BENEVOLENT WORK” is an old phrase referring to what churches do to help people meet their basic needs. Benevolence takes many forms, but a story told by Jesus provides many churches the foundation for their efforts.

Project: Start, a refugee resource center in North Dallas, will present “My American Dreams” refugee children's art exhibition August 8-23 at NorthPark Center, located on North Central Expressway in Dallas.

Originally from India, Lokesh Ganta is a master’s student at Texas A&M Kingsville who came to the United States to study engineering. With many financial obligations, Lokesh was prepared to work all summer to earn tuition money for the upcoming fall semester. 

Texas Baptists is preparing for a convention reset, Executive Director Dr. David Hardage announced at the Feb. 23 Executive Board meeting in Dallas, as they seek to best serve the state and churches in an ever-changing world.
