BELTON, Texas—The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB) hosted the Congreso Experience on Saturday, October 22, 2022. Congreso Experiences are all-day free events consisting of workshops, group activities, and an evening of worship designed to encourage Hispanic students in their education and spiritual walk.

Eighty-five students from the region between Austin and Dallas/Ft. Worth attended the Congreso Experience at UMHB. Eric Hernandez, Apologetics Lead & Millennial Specialist from the Baptist General Convention of Texas, spoke, and Robert Vasquez led worship.

Also, on Saturday, Lynda Solis, a 1991 UMHB graduate, was presented with the B.E.S.T. (Baptist Educators Serving Texans) Award. The award celebrates Christian educators living out their faith daily among their students and the Texas Baptist institutions that taught them. Solis is one of nine award recipients from each Texas Baptist university.

Solis served as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal from 1991-2019, when she became the Director of Bilingual and ESL Services for Waxahachie Independent School District.

Texas Baptists is a movement of God’s people to share Christ and show love by strengthening churches and ministers, engaging culture and connecting the nations to Jesus.

The ministry of the convention is made possible by giving through the Texas Baptists Cooperative Program, Mary Hill Davis Offering® for Texas Missions, Texas Baptists Worldwide and Texas Baptist Missions Foundation. Thank you for your faithful and generous support.
