Friends and family of Dr. Paul Stripling and Elmin Howell gathered together in Independence, Texas, on June 4 to honor their lives and legacies in Texas Baptists ministry at the 2017 Texas Baptists Legacy Awards.

The May Executive Board meeting closed Tuesday with success stories shared by a number of Texas Baptists staff. 

Texas Baptists, a state-wide denominational convention of more than 5,300 congregations, is partnering with MinistrySafe, a national leader in sexual abuse risk reduction, to provide nine regional child sexual abuse prevention training workshops throughout 2017.

Texas Baptists Missions announced the beginning of a new partnership between Texas Baptists and the Brazilian Baptist Convention during the Texas Baptist Missions Banquet, on the evening of Nov. 14 at Annual Meeting.

Texas Baptists joined together for the 131st Annual Meeting Nov. 13-15 in Waco, focusing on “Celebrating Service” through worship and business sessions, workshops and a variety of events with 1,157 messengers and 663 visitors in attendance.

Texas Baptists are engaging in new outreach opportunities with people groups in Texas and beyond, shared Executive Director David Hardage during his Monday evening report at Annual Meeting. Hardage introduced several key leaders overseeing new ministry opportunities.

The Executive Board of the Baptist General Convention of Texas convened September 26-27 in Dallas and approved numerous recommendations including the 2017 proposed budget of $36.638 million.

The Week of Prayer for Texas Missions and the Mary Hill Davis Offering will be held September 11-18, 2016. With a statewide goal of $4 million, the offering will go to support missions endeavors around Texas through strategic ministry partnerships.
