The September meeting of the Texas Baptists Executive Board was held on Sept. 22-23 in Dallas, TX. Board Directors approved the 2026 proposed budget, elected officers, heard ministry reports and considered 19 unique recommendations during the two-day business meeting.
As we approach the Texas Baptists Annual Meeting, Nov. 16-18 in Abilene, TX, we are anticipating the opportunity to explore our theme: “Live Out GC2: Love God, Love People, Make Disciples.”
This last week has been filled with so many emotions. In regard to ministry, I have had the opportunity of participating in several joyful celebrations. I have also navigated with staff and church leaders the tense moments our country is experiencing.
In July, the Texas Baptist Missions Foundation (TBMF) announced that it had officially met the requirements of the Mabee Foundation Challenge Grant, awarded in July 2024, toward the construction of the new Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) building at Baylor University.
Wednesday, Sept. 10, TBMF held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new BSM building.
I hope you had a blessed Labor Day weekend. I did! We had our extended family over for a grill out, watermelon and even s’mores. It’s like summer met fall on the same day. Even the weather was so.
As we honor the legacy of mission leaders who have come before us, may Texas Baptists be found faithful in the task the Lord Jesus has given us!
I believe churches, associations and the state convention share similar challenges in budget development. The needs around us are great. The opportunities for ministry are abundant. Yet, the financial resources often seem limited.
