“God’s strength shows best through what you think disqualifies you,” Summers said. “This fear of failure can fade away when we trust the helper more than our own ability. God isn’t asking you to be impressive; he’s asking you to be faithful.”
A large group of minister spouses gathered for a time of fellowship hosted by Monica Guarneri, Tracy Christina and Jenna Hayes at the Texas Baptists Annual Meeting.
“Advocate for others as an expression of God's justice. Speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. Defend the rights of the poor and needy … Let Texas Baptists be known not only for what we confess but for how we live.”
“God made two institutions: the church and the family — both reflect our relationship with him. The breakdown of the family doesn’t just affect our church; it affects our communities,” said Marriott.
“It's a privilege to be able to be obedient to the word of God,” said Thomas. “When we get into the word, and the word gets into us, meditating on God's word will give us a closer walk with the Lord.”
“When we love God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength, something happens to us and we start to be transformed,” said Wiles.
“The Great Commission has not been paused, postponed or rewritten – it still calls us to go, to love and to make disciples.”
“Too many Christians have conformed to this world, instead of being transformed by the power of God … If there was ever a time that this world needed the cowboy church, it’s now,” said Rodgers.
