5 Keys to Kingdom Work

by Rolando Rodriguez on May 4, 2015 in Great Commission

"To do the work of God, the Church must have a mission. It's in the Great Commandment and in the Great Commission." -Toby Snowden
see Mark 12:29-31 & Matthew 28:18-20.

Just as a key is used to open a door, these five keys can assist us in opening doors for Kingdom work.

  1. Win Souls

"He who wins souls is wise"
    Proverbs 11:30

The Apostle Paul states clearly the attitude of God concerning the lost, "(God) who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth." 1 Timothy 2:4. Jesus declared "you will be my witnesses" Acts 1:8. The New Testament is replete with words like preach, teach, persuade, declare, reason, explain, prove and speak boldly. The bottom line in Kingdom work is that people come to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ!
  2. Make Disciples

"Make disciples of all nations/peoples" Matthew 28:19

Jesus gave us the Great Commission not the great suggestion! We are to make committed followers of everyone that is saved. The call of Jesus to commitment is always, "Follow Me!" We are to teach believers, growing them in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, to be fully committed followers of Jesus Christ and always walking in a glad obedience.
  3. Train Leaders

"Equip believers for works of service" Ephesians 4:12

Using the apprentice model we as leaders are to train new and fresh leaders for Kingdom work. As Moses had Joshua and Paul had Timothy, likewise, we are to always train and equip people others to carry on the work. The work of the Kingdom is multiplied through training new leaders, who in turn can train others also, 2 Timothy 2:2.
  4. Plant Churches

"Christ loved the Church" Ephesians 5:25

Everywhere that Paul went on his missionary journeys he planted churches. Jesus said the harvest is plentiful. People tend to worship in their heart language and to assemble according to their ethnicity. We need more churches in order to carry on this great work. Without a doubt church planting is the New Testament pattern for Kingdom work.
  5. Send Missionaries

"They placed their hands on them and sent them off" Acts 13:3

Likely, the first sending church was Antioch and the first missionaries were Paul and Barnabas. The Book of Acts tells the story of intentional mission strategy. Churches, associations, conventions and boards work together in the sending of missionaries and this work must continue. We must continue to pray, give, go and send! "How can they preach unless they are sent?" Romans 10:15

As the counting of numbers is sequential; even so as we can apply and greatly benefit from the wonderful enterprise of Kingdom Work.
