Financial Assistance equips future ministers for service
Pastor Esteban Jaquez, of Segunda Iglesia Bautista, is working towards the completion of his undergraduate degree at Stark College & Seminary (SCS) with the help of the Ministerial Financial Assistance (MFA) program.
“My wife (Cynthia) and I visited Stark College & Seminary to get some information and we ended up enrolling that same day,” said Jaquez.
The Jaquezes completed their Certificates in Ministry in 2019 and decided to continue their studies in the undergraduate program. Fortunately for them, Texas Baptists had just approved the use of MFA to help pay for tuition for SCS undergraduate students.
Jaquez said that receiving the MFA is meaningful to him and his wife on a personal level. “I grew up and served in a Texas Baptist church, and I am thankful to the Lord for bringing me and my wife back to Corpus Christi, to the church where she came to know the Lord and where we were married.”
Your church’s support of the Cooperative Program helped provide scholarships for 742 undergraduate students like Esteban Jaquez in 2020. Five hundred thirty-five graduate students and 50 children of ministers also benefited from the funds last year.

Ayuda económica equipa a futuros ministros para el servicio
El pastor Esteban Jáquez, de la Segunda Iglesia Bautista, está completando su grado universitario en Stark College & Seminary (SCS) con la ayuda del programa de Ayuda Económica Ministerial.
"Mi esposa (Cynthia) y yo visitamos Stark College & Seminary buscando información y terminamos matriculándonos el mismo día", dijo Jáquez.
Los Jáquez recibieron sus Certificados en Ministerio en 2019 y decidieron continuar sus estudios en el programa de bachillerato. Afortunadamente para ellos, los Bautistas de Texas acababan de aprobar el uso del programa de Ayuda Económica Ministerial para ayudar a cubrir el gasto de matrícula para estudiantes de bachillerato en SCS.
Jáquez dijo que recibir la ayuda económica es significativo para él y su esposa a un nivel personal. "Crecí y serví en una iglesia Bautista de Texas, y doy gracias al Señor por traernos de regreso a Corpus Christi, a la iglesia donde ella llegó a conocer al Señor y donde nos casamos".
La contribución de su iglesia al Programa Cooperativo ayudó a proveer becas para 742 estudiantes universitarios como Esteban Jáquez en 2020. Quinientos treinta y cinco estudiantes de maestría y cincuenta hijos de ministros también se beneficiaron de la ayuda el año pasado.
