Church Planting in Utah

Derek and Kristin Duvall are North American Mission Board (NAMB) missionaries planting a church in one of the most spiritually difficult places in the nation, Salt Lake City, Utah. Salt Lake City is where the headquarters for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) are located, and the majority of people who reside in the city follow their teachings.

The Duvalls have planted a church that meets in a school building in the town of Harrimon, which is part of the Greater Salt Lake City. Derek and Kristin called their new church “Awaken City,” which is their goal – awakening the people of Salt Lake City to the need for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Awaken City was the first evangelical church ever planted in Harrimon. With many newcomers moving to the area, Derek and Kristin believe they are in an ideal location to develop a strong and growing church.
