Children’s Emergency Relief International (CERI) knows that the best place for a child is in a loving family. But making sure that children are in families is a multifaceted undertaking. That is why CERI focuses its work on four pillars of ministry: children, family, community and system.
CERI executes these ministries by supporting foster care, transitional living, anti-tracking, trauma and loss recovery, and mission trips. They also work to educate communities and influence policies so that governments can make decisions that are in the best interest of the child.
“Our motivation for doing this work comes from the Christian faith, a deep belief that God created family and that the best way to raise a child is in a family,” said CERI Executive Director Connie Belciug. “We would love for our church partners to know that each of us has a responsibility in advancing the cause of the orphans and widows, and we are so thankful for their support in our work in South Asia, Latin America, Africa and Eastern Europe.”
When our church gives through the Cooperative Program, funds help CERI educate national and community leaders about how to make systematic decisions that will help keep children in families and out of institutions.

El Children’s Emergency Relief Internacional (CERI, por sus siglas en inglés) sabe que el mejor lugar para un niño es con una familia amorosa, pero el asegurarse de que los niños estén en familias es una tarea multifacética. Es por eso que CERI enfoca su trabajo en cuatro pilares del ministerio: los niños, la familia, la comunidad, y el sistema.
CERI se encarga de estos ministerios a través del apoyo a padres de acogimiento, vida en transición, lucha contra el tráfico humano, recuperación del trauma y la pérdida, y los viajes misioneros. También sirven a las comunidades al educar e influir en las políticas para que el gobierno pueda tomar decisiones que promuevan el mejor interés de los niños.
“Nuestra motivación viene de nuestra fe cristiana, una profunda creencia de que Dios creó la familia y que la mejor manera de criar a un niño es en una familia”, afirmó la Directora Ejecutiva de CERI, Connie Belciug. “Nos encantaría que los colaboradores de nuestras iglesias supieran que cada uno tenemos la responsabilidad de ayudar en la causa a favor de los huérfanos y las viudas, y que estamos muy agradecidos por su apoyo a nuestros ministerios en el sur de Asia, Latinoamérica, África y el Este de Europa.
Cuando nuestras iglesias ofrendan al Programa Cooperativo, estos fondos ayudan a que CERI eduque a líderes nacionales y en la comunidad sobre cómo tomar decisiones sistemáticas que ayuden a mantener a los niños con familias y no en instituciones.
