New Hunger Offering video released

Good news! The new Texas Baptist Hunger Offering video is ready to watch and share!

This video provides an overview of the Hunger Offering, highlights footage of people impacted by Hunger Offering initiatives, and displays the gospel in action. Not to mention it has cool graphics created by my friend, Josef.

I recently ate at Whataburger for the first time.

I know. The Texans are shocked.

As directed by the accompanying party, I ordered a Number 1 meal with cheese. Admittedly, I was pleasantly surprised by the experience despite my initial reservations.

The total for my meal was $5.59. Feeding America estimates that a meal from a food bank costs $2.53 in Texas. This means my Whataburger meal can buy more than two people dinner.

Hebrews 13:15-16 states: “Through him, then, let us continually offer a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God” (NRSV).

Most days we don’t think twice about what we buy -- at least I don’t. What would happen if we started to be intentional with our everyday purchases and choose to exchange one or two as an investment in the lives of others?

The Hunger Offering is a collective effort of people and churches who want to do their part to feed and help people get out of poverty. Whether it is $5.59, like my cheeseburger meal, or $559, would you consider  giving to the Hunger Offering this Mother’s Day and spreading the word?

Watch the new Hunger Offering video on Vimeo or YouTube. Please show the video to churches, share on social media, and enjoy!
