This year, Hill College Cleburne’s Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) was able to send out its first mission trip. Three students from the BSM took part in Beach Reach, an annual mission trip where college students go to the beach to minister to fellow students during Spring Break.
Megan Jarvis, associate director at Tarleton University BSM and a founder of Hill College Cleburne’s BSM, was overjoyed to see the students participate. The Hill College BSM had only started two years prior and struggled to get students involved at first.
This Beach Reach mission trip created a shift in perspective for the students who went.
Jarvis explained, “From Beach Reach on, it was the first time our BSM [students] saw our campus as a mission field.”
Now, those students who went on the mission trip are living missionally-minded both on campus and beyond. Using the training they received at Beach Reach, they are teaching other students how to share the Gospel with their peers. In addition, one of the students who attended Beach Reach feels called to a long-term mission trip in South Africa.
Because our church gives through the Cooperative Program, we support ministries like the BSM that share the Gospel and disciple students. Please join me in praying for Hill College Cleburne’s BSM as they continue to grow and reach more students.
