Recently I was in the drive-through line ordering breakfast tacos for the family. While sitting and waiting patiently for my order, I noticed one of our city’s Deputy Fire Chiefs driving and then stopped at the business just across the street.

What a year. Disease and sickness and death. Political unrest. Racial tension. Violence in the streets. You can almost hear the exasperated, weary refrain, “Man, I’m so done with 2 BC.” As tough as 2020 has been, it is not alone in history as a time of darkness and hardship.

Let’s join together in prayer over these 6 ‘P’s for our children, parents, and teachers

The ABCD method helped us take a large issue and break it down into very practical actions we could take to help our homebound neighbors.

To start off the new year, many people establish new goals, whether in the areas they feel completely confident in or in areas where little notice has been taken. A great goal for believers would be to share their faith with more people in the new year.

Victor Rodriguez encouraged pastors to “let the seeds fly” in his sermon during the closing worship session on Tuesday of the 2019 Texas Baptists Annual Meeting.

In his convention sermon on Monday evening during the 2019 Annual Meeting of Texas Baptists, Duane Brooks summed up the role of the pastors and believers in the room in two simple words: proclaim Jesus.

“The Gospel uniquely calls us to be involved in this space of building bridges,” said Pastor Bryan Carter of Concord Church in Dallas during a Monday afternoon workshop on race and the church at the 2019 Texas Baptists Annual Meeting. “No matter what your background is, when we come to the Gospel we now share the same spiritual DNA, the same bloodline, so now we must work together.”

A new initiative by Texas Baptists aims to empower churches to make a collective impact on the growing statewide shortage of foster and adoptive families.
