Texas Baptists (Baptist General Convention of Texas) launched a new, faith-based initiative aimed at improving the state’s foster care crisis during its annual meeting on Monday, Nov. 18, in Waco. 

All three convention officers were re-elected to serve for a second term during the Monday morning business session at the 134th Annual Meeting of the Baptist General Convention of Texas Monday in Waco. 

Daniel Rangel, director del Ministerio del Río de los Bautistas de Texas y misiones de México, falleció el 10 de noviembre de 2019. Rangel sirvió fielmente en el Equipo de Misiones durante 11 años. Supervisó un equipo de 17 misioneros del Ministerio del Río que sirven a lo largo de la frontera entre Texas y México y también trabajan dentro de México. Rangel fue un firme defensor del trabajo misionero y el evangelismo, y movilizó a innumerables voluntarios para servir en áreas de gran necesidad.

Daniel Rangel, director of Texas Baptists River Ministry and Mexico Missions, passed away on November 10, 2019. Rangel faithfully served with the Missions Team for 11 years. He oversaw a team of 17 River Ministry missionaries who serve along the Texas/Mexico border and into Mexico. Rangel was a strong advocate for mission work and evangelism, and he mobilized countless volunteers to serve in areas of great need. 

Churches, groups and individuals can give people affected by Tropical Depression Imelda an extra reason to celebrate Thanksgiving this year by providing them safe, secure housing through Texas Baptist Men (TBM) Rebuild.

Two Texas Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) mission groups went up to The University of Oregon in October to assist with the relaunch of the Northwest Collegiate Ministry (NCM) as part of the ongoing partnership between Texas Baptists and the Northwest Baptist Convention. 

Chris Walker has joined the Texas Baptists Finance and Accounting team as the new Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) Accountant. 

To better help those in need, Texas Baptists River Ministry expanded the ministry away from the border and up to Houston.

One week after the EF-3 tornado destroyed Primera Iglesia Bautista Dallas’ main building, the congregation joined together for worship under a tent in the church parking lot on Sunday, Oct. 27. 

On Saturday, Oct. 19, more than 200 individuals gathered to celebrate the new Dr. Robert H. Pinder Student Center, home of the Texas Tech University Baptist Student Ministry (BSM). 

Texas Baptist Men (TBM) is currently responding to needs in North Texas following serious storms and tornados on Sun., Oct. 20. A tornado touched down in North Dallas, causing damage for several miles across the city. TBM activated a chainsaw crew of 11 people on Monday morning to the Lake Highlands area for disaster relief. 

The Hispanic Evangelism Team of Texas Baptists will host the Hispanic Evangelism Conference at First Baptist Church of Corpus Christi on Nov. 8-9. The event will begin at 7 p.m. on Nov. 8 and conclude at 2 p.m. on Nov. 9.

The Baptist General Convention of Texas will gather for the 134th Annual Meeting from Nov. 17-19, at the Waco Convention Center. 

After assessing the damage in several of the church’s classrooms, leaders wondered how and where members would continue meeting with their Life Groups, adult discipleship classes that meet weekly on Sundays for Bible study and fellowship.

Dr. Charles "Rusty" Walton received the Maples-Williamson-Daehnert (MWD) Award on Oct. 10, 2019, for being the outstanding interim pastor of the year.

Pastor Alvaro Corrales will gladly give anyone who asks a tour of Primera Iglesia Bautista of Alamo.

Conclave, a one-stop conference for various family ministries hosted by Texas Baptists Great Commission Team, will take place Oct. 14-16 at First Baptist Richardson.
