Conclave, a one-stop conference for various family ministries hosted by Texas Baptists Great Commission Team, will take place Oct. 14-16 at First Baptist Richardson. 

Craig Christina, pastor of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church in Dallas, has been elected to serve as the next Associate Executive Director of the Baptist General Convention of Texas (BGCT). 

Katie Frugé has joined the Texas Baptists Christian Life Commission (CLC) team as the Hunger and Care Ministries Specialist.

Texas Baptists churches have joined together with Texas Baptist Men (TBM) to respond to flooding from Tropical Depression Imelda which impacted Southeast Texas on Sept. 19.

During the September meeting of the Baptist General Convention of Texas Executive Board, directors elected officers, approved the 2020 proposed budget, received an update on disaster relief efforts in Southeast Texas, and recognized the ministry of outgoing Associate Executive Director Steve Vernon.

Representatives from the Northwest Baptist Convention and the Baptist State Convention of Michigan traveled to McAllen, TX, Sept. 5-7, to learn about potential partnerships with Texas Baptists River Ministry. 

TBM will respond to catastrophic flooding in Southeast Texas as a result of Tropical Depression Imelda. Two feeding teams have been activated and as many as 10 mud out units could be activated to clean out flooded homes. 

“If we begin to pour ourselves into people, old or young, imagine what 200 people at a ReCharge Conference could do if it only took 12 to turn the world upside down.” 

Over the last month, Texas Baptists River Ministry missionaries who serve in McAllen, Laredo and El Paso have seen a significant decrease in the number of immigrants crossing into Texas. 

Texas Baptist Men is preparing a response to provide disaster relief to those impacted by the destruction in the Bahamas following Hurricane Dorian. Currently, TBM partners have assessors working in the Bahamas to determine the best ways to provide aid. 

Texas Baptists and George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University recently celebrated the first graduate of the Advanced Certificate of Ministry in Children’s Ministry, a joint certification program offered by the two institutions.

On the two-year anniversary of Hurricane Harvey’s destruction of First Baptist Church of Refugio, church members and community leaders gathered to celebrate the dedication of the remodeled church building.

TBM deployed its first wave of disaster relief volunteers toward the Atlantic Coast on Sept. 3 to better respond to needs in the wake of Hurricane Dorian.

The first Light Up the Hills Regional Motorcycle Retreat will be hosted in Kerrville, TX on Sept. 13 and 14. This retreat will provide Christian riders a chance to gather together and be encouraged through a motorcycle rally approach. It is free to all participants. 

A small group of Texas Baptists stood in one of the various Baptist rehabilitation centers in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, listening as a young man passionately recounted his salvation from a life of drug addiction through his newfound faith in Jesus Christ.

In addition to providing invaluable physical help to hurting communities, this Texas Baptists ministry of junior high, high school and college-aged students is expanding to provide support to budding churches as well.
