The spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to impact churches, ministry partners and staff across our Texas Baptists family. Texas Baptists leaders and ministry teams are taking precautionary measures to address the potential spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19). The Texas Baptists Missions Team and Go Now Missions recently provided updates to students and churches engaging in upcoming mission trips in Texas and abroad regarding the coronavirus. 

A TBM mobile kitchen capable of providing 1,500 meals a day, a refrigeration unit and a generator left March 6 to serve in Nashville, Tenn. after a series of tornadoes ripped through the area.

From Feb. 14-16, Go Now Missions hosted Discovery Weekend, a retreat designed to give student missionaries clarity on where they are being called to serve.

“If you’re still alive, you can do something for the Lord. We might not know how much time we have left, but the time we do have we’re going to use glorifying Him.”

The African American Ministry of Texas Baptists will host the African American Leadership Workshop (AALW) at George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University on March 6-7. 

During the Feb. meeting of the Baptist General Convention of Texas Executive Board, directors unanimously elected Ward Hayes to serve as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO)/Treasurer.

Ward Hayes, senior pastor of Valley Grove Baptist Church in Stephenville and current board chair, was elected to serve as the new Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. 

The Texas Baptists Missions Team is excited to announce that Paul Atkinson will be stepping into a new role as Director of Multi-Housing and House Congregations. 

The Texas Baptists Chaplaincy Relations, in partnership with the Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV), celebrated their 1,000th chaplain endorsement during an endorsement ceremony on Feb. 16. 

Baptist General Convention of Texas Executive Board directors joined together to lay hands on and pray for Hardin-Simmons University (HSU) President Eric Bruntmyer during the Monday evening session of the Feb. board meeting.

Last year, Cedar Grove was an outstanding giver to the CP, and according to Senior Pastor Freddy Mason, the church has no intention of slowing down. 

This winter, a group of 13 students from four Texas universities spent their Christmas break on a music and missions journey in the Middle East. 

Texas Baptists will receive $1 million from Lilly Endowment Inc. to continue the expansion of the Center for Financial Health, a ministry dedicated to promoting the financial health of pastors.

Texas Baptists Associate Executive Director Craig Christina presented the award to Baylor President Linda Livingstone.
